Friday Jazz with Alexander Gonzales Trio

The Alexander Gonzalez Trio brings together three distinct musicians in modern Canadian jazz. Blending Gonzalez’s melodic classical foundation and Latin jazz influences, Gammon’s steady, inventive basslines, and Kadoura’s lyrical, JUNO-nominated rhythmwork, the ensemble delivers a dynamic, instrumental sound that is as emotionally resonant as it is technically thrilling.

Alexander Gonzalez (Piano & Composition): A Venezuelan-born, Canadian-raised pianist with a classical Royal Conservatory background and a Jazz Performance/Philosophy degree from the University of Calgary. An active performer in Calgary and Edmonton, he leads his own trio/quartet and has shared the stage with top-tier talent in traditional and Latin jazz settings.

Sanah Kadoura (Drums & Composition): A JUNO-nominated, Lebanese-Canadian drummer, producer, and educator who honed her craft during a decade in NYC. Featured in DownBeat’s Best Albums of 2023 for her sophomore record Duality, she is renowned for blending modern jazz, neo-soul, and Middle Eastern influences with deeply lyrical, expressive drumming.

Jeff Gammon (Bass & Composition): An award-winning Canadian bassist and Capilano University alumnus based in Calgary. A versatile collaborator, educator, and key player in ensembles like the Esteban Herrera Trio and Last Ark Out, his recent release Lift highlights performances alongside standout artists like Larnell Lewis.
